Conventional dental implants usually take two phases to complete. First, the artificial root must be implanted into the jawbone. After a period of healing, known as osseointegration, an abutment is placed on the root portion and the new tooth is attached to the implant. In many cases, dental implants can last throughout the patient's lifetime.
With today's advancement in technologies and techniques, temporary or permanent crown or bridges may also be loaded onto the artifical root immediately after its placement. Immediate loaded implants are done in cases where the patient has good bone quality and density. Implant treatment time is thus significantly shorten.
